WINE AND GOURMET FESTIVAL PROVES THAT PLOVDIV DESERVES THE “BEST WINE DESTINATION” PRIZE FOR 2022

The eighth edition of the Wine and Gourmet Festival on May 14 and 15 passed imperceptibly and extremely successfully. It will be remembered with a record number of participants, visitors and tastings.
The participants in the event were 67. 42 of them were wine producers, 21 were producers of food and products. There were also 4 accompanying participants. 55% is the growth of the participants compared to the most successful 2021 (26 participants). The organizers emphasize that the interest of new participants – winemakers and food producers to participate in the festival has increased.
The number of tastings over 53,000 was also a record, 13,000 more than the most successful 2021 so far.
For the first year, the event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism. During the festival, their information stand was located in the Ivan Chernozemski House.
This year the beginning of the holiday was given by the girls from the girls’ choir formation “Evmolpeya”. Greetings to the participants and visitors were made by the officials: Mr. Lyubozar Fratev – Chairman of the “Tourism Council – Plovdiv”, Prof. Mariela Modeva – Deputy Minister of Tourism, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism in the 47th National Assembly,Chairman of the Municipal Council – Plovdiv, Deputy. Mayor of Culture, Archeology and Tourism in the Municipality of Plovdiv, Rector of the University of Food Technology, Director of the Municipal Institute “Ancient Plovdiv”.
The tasting competition for “The best combination between wine and food” pleasantly surprised the commission of professionals with their taste proposals. The five-member jury determined:
* In the first place the participants NOYA WINERY and DAIRY STROEVO
* In second place are LIBERA ESTATE and ELLY’S SUPRIME TASTE
* In third place are VRACHANSKA TEMENUGA and KREPOSTITE
The winners were presented with plaques and certificates of honor during the official dinner.
